Ana F. Abraido-Lanza, PhD Columbia University, USA

Ana Abraido-Lanza is Associate Professor of Sociomedical Sciences and Director of the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Her research centers on cultural, psychosocial, and structural factors that affect psychological well-being, adjustment to chronic illness, and mortality among Latinos; health disparities between Latinos and non-Latino whites; and the health of immigrant Latinos. Dr. Abraido-Lanza’s current research includes the study of acculturation, neighborhood factors, and cancer-related beliefs and behaviors among Dominican women. She serves on the Editorial Board of Annals of Behavioral Medicine and recently completed a five-year term of service on the Community Task Force on Preventive Services for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
