David M. Newman provides independent comprehensive industrial hygiene services with an emphasis on worker-focused on-site hazard assessment and intervention. His work focuses on contextual, holistic evaluation (qualitative and quantitative), including equipment, materials, work process, hazard identification, exposure and risk assessment, and application of the hierarchy of controls of hazards. He previously was employed as the staff industrial hygienist for the New York committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH) for 18 years. He has served on numerous governmental and professional committees, including: the Board of Directors of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health; the EPA World Trade Center Expert Technical Review Panel; the Community Advisory Committee of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation World Trade Center Environmental Health Center; and the Labor Advisory Committee of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene World Trade Center Health Registry. He currently serves on the NIOSH World Trade Center Scientific/Technical Advisory Committee. He was a co-founder of the World Trade Center Community-Labor Coalition.
