Companion website to accompany the Third Edition of Introduction to Social Research
This is a well written text that clearly and in depth explores research methods in the social sciences, taking the reader through the step by step process of designing, conducting, analysing and disseminating research. Particularly useful are the highlighted sections that detail learning objectives, explore real world and practical examples, the summaries and further reading listed at the end of each chapter that are applicable to the topic in hand. the study questions at the end of each chapter are suitably framed so that the reader can self-test to reflect on how they have understood what they have read. this is a helpful text for those new to research in the social science or those branching out into a new area of study.
This book makes for a good general introduction to research methods.
This book provides a good overview of both quantitative and qualitative (as well as mixed) methods. It also mentions topics such as critical evaluation and validity. Readers may need to visit other texts for more detail on some areas, such as specific inferential tests, but I like the fact that it covers so much in one volume.
