Olivio J. Clay University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA

Olivio J. Clay, PhD, is currently an associate professor of psychology at the UAB. The overall focus of his research is to aid in developing theory-based, culturally relevant interventions targeted to help reduce health disparities within older adults. His research interests are racial and ethnic disparities, caregiving, social support, multiple morbidity, and research methodology. He serves as a scientist within the UAB School of Medicine Alzheimer’s Disease Center and co-leader of the Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement Core. He is a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America, and his work was recently featured on an episode of the television series Second Opinion which is broadcast on PBS-affiliated stations nationwide. The episode was titled “Caregiving through Alzheimer’s Disease.” He served as the content expert and joined the host along with three caregivers who were at different stages in the caregiving process for an informative discussion.
