Ayeshah Syed is a lecturer at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Having worked extensively in writing, content creation and skills development, she entered academia after completing her PhD in Discourse Studies. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in linguistics, discourse analysis and research methodology. Her research focuses on healthcare discourse and practices, including treatment decision making about insulin, interaction in teleconsultations and patient education. Her published work includes research articles in BMJ Open, BMC Family Practice and Tropical Medicine & International Health.
