Finbarr Allen, BDS, PhD, MSc, FDSRCPS National University of Singapore, Singapore

Finbarr Allen is currently Dean, NUS Faculty of Dentistry and Director of the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore. He is a Professor in the discipline of Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Prosthodontics, and a Senior Consultant in the National University Hospital, Singapore. His research focuses on improving quality of life of the elderly, specifically, assessment of the outcomes of interventions on health related quality of life, oral comfort and diet. He has led a number of randomised clinical trials and population health studies. In addition, he has helped develop methods for interpreting health related quality of life in clinical trials. To date, he has published over 200 peer reviewed scientific papers and research abstracts in the scientific dental literature and is the author of 2 textbooks and eleven book chapters. He received a Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research in 2011 for achievement in the area of geriatric oral health research.
