Dr. Riann Palmieri-Smith was nominated by NATA and is currently an Assistant Professor in Athletic Training, Movement Science and Orthopaedics at the University of Michigan. Dr. Palmieri-Smith is also the director of the University’s Neuromuscular Research Laboratory and co-director of the Human Neuromechanics Laboratory. A productive researcher, she has written 33 peer reviewed publications and given more than 30 regional and national scientific presentations in the last five years. In 2007, she won the New Investigator Award from the NATA Research & Education Foundation. Additionally, Dr. Palmieri-Smith recently served as the Section Editor for the Journal of Athletic Training in the Pathology, Physiology, and Bio-dynamics section and is a guest reviewer for 13 sports medicine and neuroscience journals.
