Umesh Kumar Senior Ecologist, Anthropological Survey of India, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, India

 

Dr. Umesh Kumar is the Senior Ecologist of Anthropological Survey of India and also the Head of Office, Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkata. He completed his Masters and M.Phil degrees from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. He was awarded Ph.D from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya in 2009 on the topic ‘Ecology, Conflict and Adaptation of the Jarawa in Andaman Islands’.

He had started his carrier as a Guest Lecturer at K.M. College, University of Delhi. He joined Anthropological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre as Human Ecologist. He successfully completed 12 different national projects under Anthropological Survey of India.

Dr. Kumar has more than 20 research papers published in different journals and edited volumes. He also has two edited books to his credit. He is the Managing Editor for the Journal of the Anthropological Survey of India since 2014.
