SAGE publishes UK gender pay gap report

March 28, 2018

Today, SAGE Publishing has released its gender pay gap report for the UK business, in line with the new UK Government initiative. On 5 April 2017, the median gender pay gap between men and women at SAGE UK was 14.5%, lower than the UK national median of 18.4%.

Katharine Jackson, COO and CFO for SAGE UK commented:

“We welcome the push that this Government initiative has given SAGE UK to examine the dynamics behind the gender pay gap, and we are taking steps to significantly reduce that gap at SAGE, although we recognise that this will take some time.

We are already taking positive action through our work with EDGE, a leading global consultancy for gender equality, as well as through actions such as our company wide training programmes for unconscious bias, inclusivity and diversity, and establishing a Gender Equality Group. We were also founder signatories to the Publishers Association 10 Point Inclusivity Action Plan, and already meet its key targets including 50:50 gender balance in our senior management group.

There is no overnight solution to closing this gap as it is due to the large number of women in the lower quartiles of the company whom we need to bring through to the senior ranks over time, but we are committed to making changes to foster gender equality, diversity and inclusion in both the short- and the long-term.”
