SAGE Publishing strengthens physical sciences portfolio with the acquisition of three journals from IM Publications

September 9, 2016

London, UK. SAGE Publishing, one of the world’s leading independent and academic publishers today announced the purchase of three journals from academic publisher, IM Publications.

IM Publications is a specialist publisher of books and journals, primarily in analytical chemistry. As of 2017 SAGE will be publishing the following three titles:

  • European Journal of Mass Spectrometry: Founded in 1995, this bi-monthly journal covers all areas of mass spectrometry. Members of the following organizations will continue to receive discounted subscriptions at SAGE: the British Mass Spectrometry Society, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Massenspektrometrie, Société Française de Spectrométrie de Masse and Società Chimica Italiana.
  • Journal of Near Infrared Spectroscopy: Since 1993, this journal has published, and continues to publish, original research papers, short communications, review articles and letters concerned with near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and technology, its application, new instrumentation and the use of chemometric and data handling techniques within NIR. The journal publishes bi-monthly.
  • NIR news: Published 8 times a year, NIR news is the official newsletter of the International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy. Aimed at those working with near infrared spectroscopy, the newsletter provides key updates on developments and conferences around the world focused on NIR spectroscopy and technology.

Speaking of the journal acquisitions, Karen Phillips, SAGE Publishing’s Editorial Director commented:

“SAGE Publishing has, and continues to build, a prestigious list of journals publishing across the sciences. The addition of these leading journals from IM Publications complements and further expands our physical sciences journal portfolio, and will support groundbreaking research in near infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. We are delighted to be working with the prestigious editors, editorial boards and associated society contacts, and look forward to welcoming these journals to SAGE to support their ongoing international development.”

Speaking on behalf of IM Publications, Ian Michael, owner of IM Publications remarked:

“At IM Publications we have placed great pride in the tailored services a smaller company can bring and it was key for us to find a publisher whom not only understood the nature of the research and its international development, but also understood the importance of the interpersonal relationships and culture of the journals. SAGE is one of those rare companies that manage to combine both. I look forward with confidence to watching the further development of these journals in their new home at SAGE.”
