SAGE to begin publishing The Sociological Review

August 2, 2016

London, UK. The Sociological Review, Britain’s oldest sociology journal, will be joining the comprehensive social science portfolio at leading independent and academic publisher SAGE Publishing, from January 2017.

First launched in 1908, The Sociological Review has published leading social science articles for over 100 years. As one of the world’s foremost journals for sociological inquiry, it covers all areas of the discipline, including criminology, education, gender, medicine, and organization. The journal’s tradition also extends beyond this to research that is anthropological or philosophical in orientation and analytical or ethnographic in approach.

SAGE’s Global Publishing Director, Ziyad Marar, commented:

“Launched over a century ago, The Sociological Review is one of the most significant journals in the social sciences and as one of the leading social science publishers, we at SAGE are delighted to be their new publisher. Having contributed to The Sociological Review blog on the contested value of social science, I am looking forward to further conversations with the editorial team at The Sociological Review on the key challenges facing the discipline in these complex times, and planning how best to respond.”

Robert Rojek, Publisher, Journal’s Editorial, further remarked:

“I’m thrilled that SAGE is publishing The Sociological Review! Central to the sociological canon, the journal has shown itself to be endlessly innovative in its practice. SAGE looks forward to working with the Editors on defining new critical agendas and developing its impact in the field even further.”

Beverley Skeggs, Managing Editor of the journal, added:

The Sociological Review has a long history of publishing high-quality, innovative articles covering all areas of social science. We are delighted to join forces with SAGE Publishing, a likeminded publisher with a similarly long history of publishing and championing the social sciences.  With SAGE’s impressive knowledge of our discipline and proven track record of publishing within the field, we are very confident in the future success of the journal.”

The Sociological Review has been publishing high quality and innovative articles for over 100 years. During this time the journal has steadfastly remained a general sociological journal, selecting papers of immediate and lasting significance. Covering all branches of the discipline, including criminology, education, gender, medicine, and organization, the journal’s tradition extends to research that is anthropological or philosophical in orientation and analytical or ethnographic in approach, focusing on questions that shape the nature and scope of sociology as well as those that address the changing forms and impact of social relations. http://www.thesociologicalreview.com/
