SAGE Publishing partners with the American String Teachers Association to publish two journals
SAGE Publishing is pleased to partner with the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) to publish the music journals American String Teacher (AST) and String Research Journal (SRJ).
“We are excited to enter this partnership,” said Monika Schulz, CAE, Chief Executive Officer of ASTA. “We look forward to working with SAGE Publishing to expand the reach and accessibility of our journals, allowing us to foster knowledge and resources that support string teachers, performers, students, and school orchestra programs. SAGE has an excellent reputation in education publishing, so we are confident this partnership will benefit ASTA, our members, and the string community.”
Founded in 1946, ASTA is dedicated to helping string and orchestra teachers and players. Its members include K-12 school string and orchestra educators, pre-collegiate and collegiate studio teachers, music education professors, students, conductors, and performers.
AST publishes articles on the teaching of stringed instruments and the performance of music for strings. Covering all types of music for stringed instruments, the journal publishes feature articles, forums, and teaching tips for string teachers of all levels.
SRJ is dedicated to encouraging and improving scholarship and research within string music education. It publishes research on string pedagogy and teaching practices, effective rehearsals, performance, history, listener perception, and more.
“American String Teacher and String Research Journal help to keep a community of music teachers informed about new research on teaching and playing stringed instruments,” commented Bob Howard, Senior Vice President of Global Journals, SAGE Publishing. “We look forward to working with the American String Teachers Association to strengthen the journals’ reach and to increase their impact on the field.”
SAGE will begin publishing AST in November 2017 and SRJ in July 2018. Learn more about the journals by visiting AST’s website and SRJ’s website.
