SAGE Publishing’s landmark encyclopedia on work psychology expands by two volumes in second edition
SAGE Publishing is pleased to release the second edition of The SAGE Encyclopedia of Industrial and Organizational Psychology with approximately 200 new entries on the psychological principles behind the ways people do tasks, behave, and interact with others at work. Released nearly 10 years after the well-received first edition, the new four-volume set provides an introduction to industrial and organizational (I/O) psychology for students, an overview into the specialized area for researchers, and updated information on the field for professionals.
“Arguably, I/O is the fastest growing area of psychology,” commented editor Steven G. Rogelberg, PhD. “Though the extraordinary growth of I/O psychology over the last two decades signals the vibrancy of this field, it has also created a void in the literature. The SAGE Encyclopedia of Industrial and Organizational Psychology was designed to fill this void.”
Examining key themes and topics from the expanding field of I/O psychology, such as stress, flexible work schedules, the glass ceiling theory, and more, the second edition offers a cross-cultural and global perspective. Each entry is designed to provide the reader with a basic description of an I/O psychology topic and concludes with suggestions for further reading. Readers can navigate the encyclopedia by using its Readers Guide, which groups entries into 14 sections.
Rogelberg continued, “Given that I/O psychology is both a science and a practice, enhanced understanding of its array of topics leads to applications and interventions that benefit individuals, organizations, and the communities in which people live and work.”
The text’s editorial board includes editors of the field’s top journals, prolific researchers, and other leaders in I/O psychology. View additional information, such as the second edition’s full list of entries, on its website.
