Social Work Practice (General)
The new edition includes a focus on the psychosocial perspective, with three new chapters on:
- Cognitive behavioural approaches
- Attachment theory and psychoanalytic social work
- Ecological approaches
Each chapter allows the reader to relate the theories and methods discussed to their own personal experiences. This reader friendly book includes student questions, glossaries and recommended reading so that students and practitioners can reappraise and expand the knowledge they have learned.
This book will be valuable for undergraduate and postgraduate students taking courses in social work theory and research methods, social work interventions and perspectives as well as post qualifying students and researchers in social work.
For students and NQSW it is very useful book explaining all the theories and methods used in social work.
A valuable contribution to helping students understand and apply a range of social work theories to their practice.
Good presentation of key ideas for social work theories and methods.
A valuable update
Valuable reading for social work students in second and third year of study.
Main theories, theorists and key ideas that have influenced social work practice have been included.
Informative and detailed, a good introduction/supplementary theory/methodology based text book.
This book is a challenging read for social work students in terms of the theoretical frameworks that are examined, but I have confidence that the manner in which the ideas are set out, explained and presented in a way that relates to social work, will mean this can become a significant text throughout undergraduate study. In short, complex, relevant ideas made understandable.
A useful introduction and overview of social work theory.
An excellent resource which enables students to grasp various theories relevant to social work and social care.. This book can be used for various modules and is a recommened reference book for students on social work and social care programmes.
Very good and interesting book; in Germany there is not anything similiar; but for the students a little bit too challenging.
