Supplements
Nice introductary SPSS-textbook, which even has a small section about power. Nevertheless I felt that it did not really stand out in the crowd of intro-stats textbooks.
Breaks down concepts into easy learnable pieces
This book provide practical examples using SPSS. Statistical concepts are explained using SPSS as a companion to introduce and explain the concepts. Pre-knowledge of SPSS is required.
This is a good book covering a wide range of subject matter but I have not adopted it for two reasons: it extends a long way beyond the introductory course syllabus (also because of the use of algebra which is very unpopular with students encountering statistics in a Master's degree for the first time), and it does not have as many of the SPSS screen prints which I found such a positive feature of Louise Marston's book.
There are a numher of points that I want to make about this book. First of all its quite updated and used SPSS 19 which is the latest version. Secondly, the book is quite easy to understand even for people without a background in maths or stats. Thirdly, the book provids illustrated examples explaining stastistical procedures and at the same time show you how to do it on SPSS. I would recommend this book for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Excellent textbook for our module. We teach introductory-level statistics using SPSS. This book has clear instructions on how to use SPSS and an excellent explanation of the underpinning statistical material.
I found the book is very handy for student who want to use SPSS, while it also provides enough depth for understanding the reasons behind the analysis.
I recommend this book to my student and to everyone who have a plan to use SPSS, especially who have limited knowledge or have leaving class for very long time.
I have no other words, than appreciate the writer and recommend student to read it.
An excellent text for inferential statistical tests of 1, 2 or 3+ samples, including different levels of measurement. The layout and explanation are straightforward for students to follow.
The book is too complex for undergraduate students
the book offers a a good introduction to the basic concepts and techniqhes of statistics. Very useful for students of health and social care sciences
