Corresponding Authors who reside in the countries described by the Research4Life program (both Group A and Group B) publishing in one of Sage’s gold open access journals will automatically receive a full APC waiver without needing to take any action. The waiver will be applied based on the Corresponding Author affiliation in the Sage Open Access Portal.
If you do not reside in one of the Research4Life listed countries and you genuinely cannot afford the Article Processing Charge (APC), the corresponding author should contact openaccess@sagepub.com immediately upon article submission to discuss your options. Limited discounts are available, with priority given to authors from World Bank lower middle-income countries. Your ability to pay will not affect the editorial peer review outcome. Requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by a dedicated team at Sage, not the Editor or Editorial Board, to ensure editorial independence. Sage Publishing Editors or Managing Editors will also not assess or grant needs-based discounts but will pass on all requests to the team at openaccess@sagepub.com.
The following journal uses World Bank income levels to prioritise full and partial waivers. Please consult the journal’s website or contact the journal’s editorial office for more information.
